We hope you find the information below useful.

Please let us know if you have questions we have not covered!

  • What brand of paint do you use?

We primarily use paints and stains from Sherwin Williams. We trust the quality of these products and have used them for many years with consistently outstanding results. If there is another brand that you are interested in using, we are happy to talk with you about your ideas.

  • Do you use water based or oil based paints? What is the difference between them? Which is better?

Oil based paints are seldom used today for residential and commercial painting. Water based paints offer fewer harmful solvents and lower VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds).

While oil-based paints offer good moisture resistance, a lustrous smooth look, and ultimate durability, they become very brittle over time. Cracking, peeling, and ultimate failure of the paint occurs as times goes on.

Some of the ingredients in oil based paint serve as a food source for mildew. In moisture prone areas (both interior and exterior) oil-based paints then have a tendency to grow mildew.

Water-based paints (both latex and acrylic paints) have improved greatly over time with new technologies.

Today’s latex and acrylic paints offer excellent mildew resistance, moisture resistance, color fastness, and the ability to not stick to itself or objects to stick to the finish.

Paint known as 100% acrylic is the highest quality water based paint available. We recommend using this product whenever possible.

  • Do you offer environmentally friendly options?

We use low and non-VOC paints if that is important to you.

  • How many coats of paint do you use?

The number of coats we use depends on the project. Sometimes we can use just one coat and the result is perfect. Other times, two coats are needed to complete the job to your, and our satisfaction. We use as many coats as needed to get the job done correctly, and provide you with a result you will be pleased with.

  • What are the different kinds of paint finishes? How do I know which to use for each room?

In general terms, there are three categories of paint finish:

Flat Finish (sometimes referred to as matte finish)

Satin Finish (sometimes referred to as eggshell, or low-luster finish)

Gloss Finish (sometimes referred to as semi-gloss or high gloss finish)

  • Do you offer any guidance on how to choose a color?

While we are not interior designers, we know there are three primary factors to consider when choosing a paint color: lighting, architecture, and room decor. An ideal paint color is one that considers all three of these elements and helps bring all these features together.

  • What if I don’t like the color I selected after you’ve started the job? Can I change it? Would it cost more to change it?

Yes, we can use a different color if you are not happy with the one you chose. There would be an additional cost, determined by how much of the job is already completed plus the cost of the additional paint.

  • How long will the job take?

The time it takes to complete a job depends on the scope of the project. We will give you an idea of how long it will take after we have discussed with you what you want done. As an example, a typical bedroom would take about a day or two to paint the walls, ceiling, and trim. You should plan on not having access to the bedroom for at least one night

  • How quickly can I get an estimate for my project?

We make every effort to give you an estimate within one week from first meeting with you. There are times during the year (April, May, and June) that we get many requests, and the wait time can reach two weeks.

  • Can you paint the exterior of my property in the Winter season?

Painting exterior surfaces in unfavorable conditions should be avoided. Winter weather brings extreme temperatures, and it becomes difficult to apply paint that will adhere properly. The best exterior painting jobs are those that are carried out in temperatures ranging from 50 degrees to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • What is the benefit of working with you?

Our success is based on delivering high quality painting services with exceptional customer service. We stand behind our work and will work with you to make sure you are happy with the experience and the finished product.

  • What do I need to do to prepare for your work?

You will need to remove all items from the tops of shelves and pictures from the walls. We can move the larger items towards the center of the room and properly cover and protect furniture and other items.

  • How much will a painting job disrupt my home?

We keep disruption to a minimum. At the end of each day our crews will clean the areas we are working in and move tools and paint to a shop area (garage or basement).

  • The walls I want painted have wallpaper on them. What happens now?

Wallpaper needs to be removed prior to painting. Before we remove the wallpaper, we will test an area to see how the paper was applied. If the wallpaper was not applied properly it may lead to damage to the walls when the paper is removed. We will discuss with you your options if this is the case.

  • Can you fix water damage or holes in my walls? If yes, how long will it take?

We will fill holes, fix water damage, and make any other repairs needed as part of our preparation. The time it takes to make these repairs depends on the amount of damage.

  • Can I trust your employees?

Yes. Our professional painting crew are full-time employees – not subcontractors, which mean each employee is reference checked and a criminal background check is performed.

  • Are you insured?

Yes. For your protection we are insured up to $100,000 in liability.

  • Are you licensed?

    Yes. We are licensed required.
